How AEMA calc collects, uses and protects information when you use our calculator tools.

Effective date: May 26, 2026

1 Introduction

Welcome to aemacalc.com ("we," "our," or "us"). We provide free calculator tools for home improvement, energy, and DIY projects. We value the trust you place in us when using this site.

This policy applies to all visitors worldwide. Where local law grants you specific rights beyond what is described here, those rights remain yours. By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2 Information We Collect

Project data

When you use our calculators, we process the data you input locally in your browser to provide estimates. This includes dimensions, material preferences and project notes you enter.

Privacy by design: Calculator inputs are processed in your browser. Project data saved with the "Save" button is stored in your browser's localStorage — it is not transmitted to our servers.

Usage data

We collect anonymous information on how the Service is accessed, including IP address, browser type, pages visited and approximate time spent. This data is used only to improve the service.

Error reports

If a JavaScript error occurs in your browser while using the site, our error-monitoring system may automatically submit a short report via a Netlify Form. This report contains the error message, the page URL, the script file where the error occurred, and your browser's user-agent string. No calculator inputs or personal project data are included. These reports are used solely to identify and fix technical problems.

3 How We Use Your Data

Service Provision

Calculate precise material needs based on your inputs.

Improvement

Analyse calculation accuracy and improve our tools.

Bug Fixing

Identify and resolve technical errors reported automatically.

Analytics

Understand which calculators are most useful to visitors.

We do not sell, rent or trade your data to third parties.

4 Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser localStorage to remember your unit preference (metric/imperial) and saved calculator inputs across visits. No tracking cookies are set by our own code.

Third-party services we use (see section 5) may set their own cookies or use similar storage mechanisms in accordance with their own privacy policies.

5 Third-Party Service Providers

We work with the following service providers who may process data on our behalf:

Netlify

Our site is hosted on Netlify (Netlify, Inc., 44 Montgomery Street, Suite 300, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA). Netlify serves all pages, static assets and processes any form submissions — including error reports from section 2. Data may be processed on servers in the United States or other countries where Netlify operates. Netlify is certified under applicable security frameworks and maintains a Data Processing Addendum for GDPR compliance.

6 Data Security

Our site is served exclusively over HTTPS. Security headers including Content Security Policy, HSTS and Permissions Policy are applied to all pages. Netlify, our hosting provider, maintains SOC 2 Type II certification.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we apply commercially reasonable measures to protect the limited data we handle.

7 Your Rights

We collect very little personal data. Most of what we handle is anonymous usage data and functional browser storage that never leaves your device. Regardless of where you are located, you can contact us at any time to ask what data we hold about you or to request its deletion.

EU / EEA / UK visitors

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port any personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

California (US) visitors

Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

All other visitors
