Fence Construction Basics
1. Posts & Spacing
Posts provide the strength. Standard spacing is 1.8m (6ft). In high-wind areas, reduce to 1.2m or 1.5m. Posts should be 98x98mm (4x4") or larger.
2. Concrete Footings
Posts should be set in concrete. A common rule is 1.5 - 2 bags (25kg) per post, buried approx 60cm deep.
3. Rails vs Panels
Stick Built: Uses horizontal rails (spikerslag) and individual vertical boards.
Great for custom slopes.
Panels: Prefabricated sections (elements). Faster to install but harder to adjust
for terrain.

Post Spacing
Standard spacing is often 1.8m (approx 6ft) to match standard board lengths or panel sizes. Closer spacing (1.2m-1.5m) makes for a stronger fence in windy areas.
